I love VR?

Hey Blacksmiths,

I received a fare amount of request for VR in MBLSS . So, I figured I'd write a blog about my thoughts and the potentials of an implementation.

Now I love VR. That goes without saying. Anyone that knows me, knows that I love it. I purchased both Oculus DK1 and DK2 when they were made available. I had and still have high expectations, although mostly for it's future. After that however, I tilted my head at the entry cost for CV1. I couldn't justify spending over a $1000 Canadian dollars on it. (Not to mention I was broke at the time).

VR introduces new opportunities that I see would work well for MLBSS. Unfortunately, it also presents new issues and limitations, hardware and software side. Fortunately, Epic has made the Unreal Engine 4 super VR friendly. Pretty much plug and play.

So what does that mean for the future of VR in MLBSS?

The answer is simply ... I'm not sure yet.

For starters, I'll need to figure out where to get the cash for getting a Consumer Version VR headset with motion controllers, for obvious reasons. With the price reduction of the Oculus CV1, I'm more inclined to get it but with the stand up, room scaled experience of the Vive, which by the way works best for this game, has made me hesitant. At the time of this writing, Vive hasn't made any price reductions.

Also, release of any subsequent versions of the game would be extended. I'm sure, the majority of the users that play the game don't own a VR headset so they would have to wait longer because of a VR update.

Anyways, right now, my focus is delivering a solid and stable game for everyone to enjoy with features that will make you want to come back and play. I'll revisit VR at a later day when the game is more feature complete.

Keep smiling and smithing!!
